POSITION SUMMARY

Emmanuel, Sheppard & Condon is looking for an experienced paralegal to join our growing Pensacola office. Duties include assisting multiple attorneys in broad practice areas with preparation of legal documents, correspondence and investigating facts. The paralegal will be expected to fill a dual role of both paralegal and legal assistant to the attorneys with general assistant duties including filing, scanning, scheduling, and answering phones.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
• College degree or paralegal certificate preferred, but not required
• 1+ years paralegal experience required

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES The individual must have strong typing skills and the ability to operate general office equipment, such as telephones, copiers, printers, fax, and postage machines. Familiarity with legal terminology and experience with case management software preferred. Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task is essential. Must have proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite applications and excellent written and interpersonal skills, with attention to detail.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Drafting/preparing documents including but not limited to pleadings, motions, orders, settlement demands and correspondence
• Drafting/preparing contracts and estate planning documents
• Preparing discovery requests and responses
• Screening client calls and gathering client intake information
• Editing and proofreading documents
• Conducting legal research relating to pleading and motion preparation
• Filing, scanning and importing documents
• Calendaring and deadline computation and tickle system
• Scheduling client meetings, hearings, mediations, and depositions
• Performing conflict checks
• Electronically filing documents with the court
• Managing assigned case load
• Other duties as assigned
